Watts Bridge Airfield The Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield is located 9km from the small country township of Toogoolawah, is an easy 90 minute drive from the Brisbane CBD, and provides plenty of flat camping areas at a cost of $15 per person per night. SEQAS coordinates with the Watts Bridge committee to pre-arrange dark sky weekends once a month during winter and will advise club members when they have been organised. (Check the events calendar for this year’s dates.) The skies are quite dark and there is virtually 360 degree viewing. Only camping in tents, caravan etc is possible, there is no dormitory accommodation, so you must bring everything you need for sleeping, cooking etc. There are toilets and tank water; SEQAS will normally arrange for access to power for the weekend so that members can charge batteries. There are no shower facilities; you are welcome to bring your own shower tent. Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield has set aside an area adjacent to the Club House and Private Hangar areas for SEQAS members to enjoy camping and caravanning while attending events being held at the airfield by SEQAS. |

DRIVE NEIGHBOURLY Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield requests that all members and visitors using the airfield's internal roads adhere to the signposted maximum Speed Limit of 20kph. The Speed Limit maximizes safety for all motorists and pedestrians, significantly reduces damage to the airfield's roadways and minimises the generation of dust which has an adverse affect on aircraft, buildings and human health. Safety – this obviously needs no explanation. Please remember there are often people walking along the roads, some of them children. Road damage – excessive speed damages the roads and this costs money to fix. The more time and money spent on repairing roads the less there is to do other things on the field. Dust – speeding creates dust and dust has a number of impacts. It gets into the hangers, into the water tanks and into our aircraft. This dust also has potential to cause health issues. Apart from this it is just plain unpleasant. |
