About SEQAS The South East Queensland Astronomical Society Inc was formed in 1989 to promote the science and study of Astronomy, emphasizing its cultural and inspirational value and consists of a group of friendly amateur astronomers who get together and share their knowledge, views, ideas and telescopes with friends and fellow members. SEQAS Inc has expertise within the club in areas of astrophotography, deep sky observation, computers, CCD and video cameras, lunar and planetary, and solar observation. SEQAS has an extensive library of books and videos for members to use at no charge. We also have a number of telescopes for hire for club members at reasonable rates. |
The club holds regular field nights designed to give the members hands on experience and assistance. The Urban Observers Group usually meets on one Saturday each the month at the Barrett St Reserve, Bracken Ridge (weather permitting), the date depending on the moon phase and advised when decided upon. We also have several weekend camps, public field nights and displays for schools and clubs. The club meetings are held at 7:30 pm, on the third Tuesday of each month, at Bracken Ridge Library, corner of Barrett and Bracken Streets, Bracken Ridge. All visitors are most welcome, with refreshments provided.
The South East Queensland Astronomical Society provides astronomy for enthusiasts of every kind — regardless of age or level of education. We provide free events for solar observing and nighttime sky observing (Urban Observers), talks, school outreach to improve the public’s understanding of astronomy and their abilities to share their knowledge with others. SEQAS is committed to expanding and diversifying its membership, and believes astronomy should be accessible to everyone! |
