Code of Conduct

At the South East Queensland Astronomical Society (SEQAS), we believe that exploring the universe is best done in an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and welcome.

If you’re thinking about attending one of our public observing nights, community events, or joining the Society, we want you to feel confident that SEQAS is a welcoming and inclusive place to be.

Our Code of Conduct reflects the values that matter most to us. It sets clear expectations for behavior so that all SEQAS activities, from observing nights and meetings to outreach events and online spaces, remain inclusive, family-friendly, and enjoyable for everyone.

Our commitment is to:

Treat every person with fairness, dignity, and respect
Provide family-friendly, inclusive events where people feel safe and supported
Welcome beginners, experienced observers, families, and curious first-timers alike
Ensure our events are enjoyable, well-run, and considerate of others

SEQAS is proud to be a community where differences are respected, questions are encouraged, and learning happens in a positive, supportive environment. We take inappropriate behavior seriously and act promptly on any concerns to protect the well being of everyone involved.
